The opossum and the dream

Standard

Due to the Thanksgiving holidays

We had more garbage

Both cans full and

Two more bags of garbage

On top of the cans.

I fear the opossum that

Comes to visit our

Bags overflowing with food

My dog tries to chase

This animal

And I fear for my dog,

Who is acting brave, scared inside.

I have my own “opossum”—

I have a new lease on life

And I bravely push forward

Into newfound happiness;

Still, scared inside, like my

Dog

I will chase my dream

But with mixed emotions

Knowing all the time

That what will be

Will be

Is my dream

Nebulous, like the opossum

Who may or may not hurt my dog?

Yes, it is astounding

In its realization.
